Considering out of 15 people that applied to SyracuseApr 24 2009Electrical Engineering
Considering out of 15 people that applied to Syracuse from my high school (a competitive prep school in NY) only 3 people got in (including myself), you can pretty much determine the selectivity of Syracuse. I personally was President of three organizations in my school, had a 2140 combined SAT score and a 3.9 weighted GPA. I'd say take the hardest courses possible in your school. Syracuse wants to see that you have potential in thriving in their classes. Don't blow off the essay either. It may just be good enough to tip you in but can hurt you as bad as poor grades. Maintain excellent grades, show passion in something, network with faculty at Syracuse and you should have a descent shot.

To get into SU all you need is to "be you". Show what makes you tick while backing yourself up with outstanding grades. That is practically the only way you'll get your foot into the doors of any elite school.
